The Edo North district political landscape is intensifying as the battle for victory in the upcoming September governorship election becomes a crucial task.

Etsako West Council chairman, Hon Marvellous Zibiri along with the Afenmai youth movement are leading the charge to ensure the ruling PDP puts up a superlative performance in the upcoming election.

The LGA Chairman during the 10000-man March in support of the Ighodalo/Ogie ticket held in Auchi, Etsako West, organized by the Afenmai Youth Movement, a youth-based socio-political organization advocated for a change in the voting pattern in favour of the ruling PDP.

Despite the considerable political advantage enjoyed by the opposition APC in some part of Edo North district, Hon. Zibiri is hopeful for a positive result for the ruling PDP.

Hon. Zibiri’s optimism is hinged on the dwindling fortunes of the APC in the district as well as its failure to campaign.

Similarly, he believes that Edo North voters are disenchanted with the APC, adding the upcoming election will serve as an opportunity to ditch the APC and pursue a new direction.

With high hopes for the PDP’s performance in the election, the council chairman emphasized the importance of electing credible candidates and stated that the PDP candidate and his running mate are well-suited for the positions.

The walk was tagged “Afenmai Invasion: Ten Thousand man Match for Asue/Ogie.”

Thousands of Etsako youths participated in the programme, along with supporters of the PDP candidate.

As the participants marched through the Auchi community in specially designed party apparel, they made numerous stopovers along the route to canvass support from the teeming residents who trooped out to watch the proceeding.

According to the council chairman, who also joined the marchers, Etsako voters are tired of the APC’s tactics and have become more discerning, insisting that they now place competence, integrity, and capability above party sentiments.

Mr Bonvis Oshiobugie, one of the participants of the march, which later turned into a rally as the marchers traversed the various quarters and streets, described the outing as “a remarkable success,” saying the PDP showed its muscle and tenacity in championing the Asue/Ogie joint ticket.

Political watchers also collaborated on this observation, stating that the march has electrified the Edo North political landscape and may compel the APC to go back to the drawing board to counter the growing acceptability of the PDP in the district.

One of the high points of the march was the dazzling dance steps of the Etsako West council chairman. He won the hearts of many with his oratory and stage presence.
