In line with directive from the Federal Ministry of Education, authorities of the Federal Polytechnic, Auchi, Edo State have ordered the immediate shutting down of the school.
The decision to close the school along with other polytechnics in the country may not be unconnected with the security of staff students and properties of the respective institutions.
It may not also be unconnected with the idea to enable the students to participate in the forthcoming general elections in the country.
A statement by the Acting Registrar, Mrs. F.I. Eshiotse in Auchi and made available to journalists in Benin explained that the directive by the Minister of State for Education Mallam Adamu Adamu followed extensive consultations with the relevant security agencies.
Dated February 20, the statement disclosed that the closure took effect from Wednesday, February 22 while normal academic activities will resume on Wednesday, March 14, 2023, adding however, that staff who engage in essential services are not affected by the shut down.
Mrs. Eshiotse noted that students who are resident in the hostels are to vacate same, not later than 12 noon on Wednesday, 22nd February, 2023.
