The Federal High Court sitting in Dutse, Jigawa State has nullified the primary election of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for Kazaure constituency in the state House of Assembly.

The court ordered the dismissal of Muhammad Idris, who was declared the winner of the primary election for his main challenger, Bala Hamza.

In the primary election conducted on 26th May, Idris got 29 votes while Hamza got 24 votes.

Hamza challenged the result in court, on the ground that five party delegates from his constituency were “intimidated and disenfranchised” during the primary election. He also claimed that Idris presented a forged educational certificate to INEC.

On Thursday, the trial judge, Hassan Dikko held that the court was convinced that Idris was not validly elected as the party’s candidate. The court also said that it was convinced that Mr Idris forged the certificate he submitted for the primary election.
