The chances of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP posting an impressive performance in the 2023 presidential election continue to dwindle as more leaders of the party continue to leave the party citing the crisis of zoning.
On Thursday, a member of the Board of Trustees, BoT of the party and a founding member of the PDP, Prof ABC Nwosu sent in his letter of resignation.
Nwosu announced his resignation in a letter addressed to the National Chairman of PDP, Iyorchia Ayu, dated January 12, 2023, which the party acknowledged the receipt of his resignation letter.
Nwosu who was a founding member of the party and has played significant roles in the party at Zonal and National level cited that non-adherance to party principle of rotation by the Party is his reason of resignation.
The letter which takes effect from Yesterday, January 12, 2023 said that, “This resignation for me is a matter of CONSCIENCE and PRINCIPLE because of the party’s inability to adhere to the ROTATION provision in its (PDP) Constitution.
The former PDP Chieftain added that the party must learn to work with the agreement enshrined in the party’s constitution concerning the rotational presidency between the North and South of Nigeria.
”The journey to the rotational presidency between the North and South of Nigeria has been a long and arduous one, and I have been involved. Nigeria and the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) must learn to keep to an agreement reached by a Constituent Assembly (1995) and enshrined in the party’s (PDP) Constitution (1998),” he added.
