Governor Samuel Ortom of Benue State announced on Wednesday that Peter Obi is his candidate outside of the PDP.
Ortom stated that if he had not been a member of the Peoples Democratic Party, he would have worked for the success of the Labour Party’s presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
Ortom made this known to the former Anambra State governor on Wednesday when he hosted him at his private residence in Abuja.
The Benue governor and top PDP member is an ally of Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike and three other governors who have been calling for PDP National Chairman Iyorchia Ayu to step down in favor of a southerner.
From and members of the Wike’s camp have not been seen at the rallies of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar, casting doubt on whether the governors will back Atiku or another candidate in next February’s election which has been described by analysts as a three-horse race among Obi, Atiku and Bola Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress.
