Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC)’s National Commissioner, Festus Okoye, Esq. has warned unregistered voters to stay away from the elections process come 2023.
The INEC National Commissioner issued the warning while addressing the journalists on why INEC is part of Calabar Carnival on Wednesday.
“Our message is that only the PVC can change your circumstances. Therefore, those who do not have PVC do not have any business in electoral process. Our responsibility is to make sure those who Nigerians say would win, win this election,” Okoye said.
The Commissioner said that this Period has been a critical stage in the electoral process. Which is why INEC is making available PVC for collection at this point in time. “Our joining Calabar Carnival is part of our enlightenment program and process to make sure people collect their PVC.
He continued, “People must understand that the PVC has power and potency, adding that if PVC did not have power and potency, you will not see people canvassing for vote buying.
“Our message is that only the PVC can change your circumstances. Therefore, those who do not have PVC do not have any business in electoral process. He warned.
Barrister Okoye, who used the opportunity to encouraged every Nigerian who had registered to collect PVC and show up on the election day. Said, the responsibility of INEC is to organize free, fair and credible elections.
According to him, The Commission has no political party. Its responsibility is to make sure those who Nigerians say would win, win this election.
“The time has come for us to organize the freest, and fairest election in the continent of Africa. The conduct of free, fair and credible elections is a shared responsibility , multistakeholders’ venture and all of us must strive to do what is right at all times.”
