An Area Court sitting in Jos, presided by Judge Shawomi Bokkos, on Monday Sentenced a butcher, identified as Mathew Danjuma, to one-year imprisonment for stabbing his colleague.
The 24-year-old butcher was jailed after confessing to the crime, Although, he was given an option of N50,000 fine by the Judge.
According to the Judge, the judgement would serve as a lesson to those who would want to indulge in such acts.
He further ordered him to pay N35,000 as compensation to the complainant.
Earlier, Ibrahim Gokwat, the prosecution’s counsel, informed the court that the complainant, Umar Muhammed, had filed the case at the Jos C’ Division on May 21.
According to Gokwat, during an altercation with Muhammad, the convict allegedly became enraged and attacked him with a knife.
He said that the offense was in violation of Section 241 of the Plateau State Penal Code.
