A 27-year-old Nigerian man, identified only as Popori, has been arrested in Grenoble, a city in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region of southern France, for allegedly stabbing another Nigerian, identified as Monday G., to death. The tragic incident reportedly occurred on the evening of Friday, November 22, 2024, during a heated altercation in a local grocery store.
According to the Grenoble prosecutor, Eric Vaillant, who confirmed details from Dauphiné Libéré, the violent confrontation began around 8:30 p.m. while the two men were inside an exotic grocery store. Witnesses say the argument escalated rapidly, resulting in a physical fight. During the altercation, one of the men, for reasons yet to be determined, stabbed the other in the chest, leading to his death.
Popori was taken into police custody the following day, Saturday, November 23, as authorities launched a full investigation into the incident. The motive behind the deadly encounter remains unclear as investigators work to piece together the circumstances surrounding the fatal altercation.
