The management of Federal Polytechnic, Auchi has revealed that not less than 30,000 candidates applied for the institution as their preferred choice in the 2022/2023 academic session.
The Rector of the institution, Saliu Umar, said this at the 41st matriculation ceremony of the institution.
He said out of the figure, a total of 15,000 students were admitted.
His words “you are privileged to be among the 15,000 students taking the oath of matriculation today out of the 30,000 that chose the polytechnic.
“As you continue in your academic sojourn in the polytechnic, I wish you the best.
“Once again, on behalf of the governing council and management of the polytechnic, I congratulate and welcome you to Auchi polytechnic; one of the highly sought after institution in Nigeria”
Umar warned the new intakes against cultism, examination malpractice and other vices.
He also warned that anybody caught violating examination rules, could be rusticated or expelled from the polytechnic.
“Do not be involved in any form of cheating or examination misconduct. If you are caught violating examination rules, you can be rusticated or expelled from the polytechnic,” Umar said.
He further admonished them to make the best use of the institution’s facilities to become well-grounded and employable after graduation.
While explaining that the institution frowned at indecent dressing, he added that Dress Code Committee had been set up to ensure that students comply with the approved dress code of the polytechnic.
Umar restated the polytechnic’s commitment to providing an enabling environment for students to excel and to ensure uninterrupted academic calendar.
He further disclosed that the institution had introduced 19 new programme to take off next session.
The Rector, however, pledged the management’s commitment to restoring the glory of Auchi polytechnic as one of the foremost polytechnics in Nigeria.
