In a shocking analysis, a group of surviving aides who served under former Anambra State Governor, Willie Obiano, disclosed that a staggering 42 of their colleagues have tragically passed away in the last two years.

The disclosure occurred during a reunion meeting in Akwa, the state capital, where the former aides begged the current governor, Charles Soludo, to fulfill their outstanding severance payments.

The surviving aides emphasized that the deceased colleagues had not received their severance before their untimely demise, though the specific causes of these deaths were not elucidated.

Anambra State Deputy Governor, Onyekachukwu Ibezim, himself a former aide to Obiano, provided support and encouragement during the gathering, urging the ex-aides not to lose hope.

The backdrop to this revelation involves Obiano’s earlier assertion that the appointment of some of his aides in Soludo’s government, along with settling their severance, was a pivotal condition for his support in Soludo’s bid for succession.

The succession in Anambra state has not been seamless and has left friction in keeping faith with financial commitments incurred from the previous government.
