The Cross River State Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture Mr Abubakar Robert Ewa, is dead.
Hon. Abubakar Ewa born October 1st, 1963 and died on January 8, 2025 at the age of 61.
Truth Live News gathered that he breathed his last at the Arubah Specialist Hospital in Calabar, after being treated for an undisclosed ailment
Shortly after the news of his death, members of the Cross River State Executive Council and aides gathered in the hospital to pay him their last respects.
Before his death on January 8, 2025 he visited traders and informed them about his plan to demolish unwanted structures around the Arts and Crafts village of the Cultural Center in Calabar.
The planned exercise, according to him, was to pave the way for the facility’s reconstruction.
The late Commissioner for Tourism, Arts, and Culture, Mr Abubakar Robert Ewa, held several positions including Secretary and Chairman of the Boki Local Government Council, Special Adviser Community Relations, and Secretary of the Anti Deforestation Task Force.
Hon. Abu as he was popularly called was a grounded grassroots’ politician, open-minded and receptive.
Also, he attended St. Stephen’s Primary School, 1967 – 1971, and Secondary Commercial School, Bateriko, Boki Local Government Area, from 1975 – 1980.
He also attended Cross River State College of Education (C. O. E.), Akamkpa, after which he proceeded to attend the University of Calabar, Calabar, Cross River State.
He has held series of political appointments including Special Assistant to the Governor of Cross River State.
