In a recent special plenary session held to approve the 2024 budget, Tajudeen Abbas, Speaker of the House of Representatives, revealed a notable legislative activity.
Truth Live News reported that over the last six months since its inauguration on June 13, the 10th House has seen the introduction of an impressive 962 bills. Out of this extensive list, 120 bills have progressed to the Second Reading stage and are presently undergoing thorough review and refinement in response to concerns raised during debates.
Addressing the House’s overall performance, Speaker Abbas highlighted the involvement of relevant committees in the legislative process, with 120 bills referred to these committees for further consideration.
Additionally, within the same timeframe, 500 motions were introduced, indicating a record breaking dynamic engagement in parliamentary discussions. Furthermore, the House considered 153 petitions, reflecting a commitment to addressing public concerns and grievances.
