The youth wing of Peoples Democratic Party in South-South has thrown its weight of support behind the Deputy National Chairman of the party in South-South, Daniel Orbih, over the recent attack on Orbih since the return of the party’s money gifted to some of the party’s NWC members as bribe by the embattled national chairman, iyorchia Ayu.
The youth wing of the party declared support for Orbih via a press statement duly signed by its leadership. The statement reads:
“Our attention has been drawn to press release trending in the social media and other media houses on the above subject matter. However, it is on this premise, that we the youth leaders of the various state, the senatorial districts Youth Leaders, the L.G.A Youth Leaders and the Ward Youth Leaders of the South/South Geo-Political Zone, have deemed it necessary to draw the attention of the public to this ill fated press release by these impostures and misguided members of the party. That PDP youths of the south/south geo political zone condemns in a very strong terms the attack on the PDP national Vice Chairman of the party in South/South Zone, in the person of High Chief Daniel Orbih by some faceless, self seeking misguided element, led by one Mr. Onuah Marshall who claims to be member of the Party under the aegis of PDP youth council here in Rivers State, without any official address here in Port Harcourt metropolis or any other part of the state. However, it is our candid view that we bring to the knowledge of the reading public the true position of the youths in south/south geo-political zone. That these group of people, purportedly decided to usurp the positions of the South/South PDP youth leaders, who are legitimate youths that are competent to speak on behalf of the entire PDP youth in the South/South.
Sequel to this act of impersonation, we are warming these young men to desist forthwith from this callous act. That we the PDP Youths of the south/south extraction know that PDP have modus operandi, on how things are done as enshrined in the party’s constitution. However, it is worthy of note that every affiliate youth body under the party in the State, must be duly registered and recognize by the
office of the State Youth Leaders, before such a body or groups should be allowed to fly the flag of the party in the State. We want to say, without any fear of contradiction that in our capacities as the State Youth leaders of the party in the South/South Zone, the self acclaimed PDP Youth Council in Rivers State and other States of the South/South, under the leadership of Onuah Marshall does not exist. We want to state unequivocally that all their claim and demand are baseless and unfounded.
“That the entire PDP youths in the South/South Geo- Political Zone, want to reiterate our resolve as law abiding citizens and loyal members of the party, who passed through the due processes of the party’s congresses and conventions to emerge as party officers, also as those empowered by both the party’s constitution and the constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, hereby pass vote of confidence on the national vice chairman.
“Finally, as peace loving people who believed in the unity of the party and absolute respect for the rule of law as demonstrated by our leaders, who knows what this country is passing through in the hands of the present administration and also working towards rescuing the nation from the hands of insensitive government of the opposition party APC, we are saying that the unity of the party is paramount and therefore we should give peace a chance and let the sleeping dog lie while snoring is tolerated”.
