Tragedy as multiple explosions rocked the Ukrainian capital early Monday morning, October 10th, months after relative calm in the city.

A photo posted on Twitter by a member of Ukraine’s parliament, Lesia Vasylenko, revealed that at least one explosion occurred near the main building of the Kyiv National University in central Kyiv.

AP quoted the spokesperson for Emergency Service in Kyiv, Svitlana Vodolaga, as saying that some persons were killed and others wounded.

The explosions heard by many appeared to be the result of missile strikes.

The last previous attack on Kyiv was in June. One of the missiles struck an apartment building, killing one and wounding six.

But unlike previous attacks that mostly hit Kyiv’s outskirts, Monday’s strike targeted several locations in the very center of the city.

Recall that the Russia-Ukraine War has been on since February. Hostilities were initiated by Russia shortly after Ukraine’s Revolution of Dignity and were focused on the political status of Crimea and the Donbas, which remain internationally recognized as part of Ukraine.
