The All Progressives Congress candidate in the Kwara Central Senatorial race, Saliu Mustapha, has again redeemed his $1,500 pledge to the Kwara United football club after the team defeated RS Berkane of Morocco in the ongoing game in the CAF Confederation cup.

Both teams played the Second Round Preliminary First Leg at the Mobolaji Johnson stadium in Lagos state on Sunday.

The Moroccan team led in the first half after scoring six minutes into the game.

However, in the 73th minute, Kwara United dazed the spectators as Ahmad Taofeek equalised with a fantastic goal.

The winning goals were scored by Wasiu Jimoh and Barnabas Daniel a few minutes to the end of the game.

With the three goals to one, the team qualified for the cash prizes earlier announced by Mustapha, who is also the Turaki of Ilorin.

Recall that Mustapha had in September announced cash prizes up to 20,000 USD for the team if they win the league.

For every goal scored, Mustapha promised the team 500 USD and the sum of 10, 000 USD, if they advance beyond the group stage.

The Turaki noted that the cash reward is his modest way of supporting Governor Abdulrahman Abdulrazaq’s vision of constantly positioning Kwara on the big stage through sports and other endeavours.

It should be noted that Mustapha had redeemed his pledge for the two matches played by the Kwara side in the Confederation game.
