Following the massive flood which has taken over major areas and hampered movements in and out of the state, residents of Bayelsa state have cried out to the government as the situation continues to escalate with corpes in the cemetery being washed out by flood.

According to some residents from off Azikoro village road in Yenagoa, for over two weeks the stench from the cemetery has become unbearable after the corpses were uncovered by the flood.

Similarly a resident who narated the situation of the flood said many can’t come in or leave the state because of the water level and its current adding that people are just stock in their different locations across the state.
He said, “if you try to move, you might probably drown if the current capsizes the canoe or speed boat.”

“People who sell food items or beverages are either hiking their prices or deciding not to sell because they they also need to feed. As at today, fuel is sold for N700 per litre.”

“There’s an upsurge of mosquitoes such that I’ve never experienced, plus the flood displaced snakes and reptiles. We are literally living with snakes and Crocs,” he added.

“The flood ravaged the cemetery, uprooting rotten corpses. It is not just a flood crisis, it is a health pandemic.”
