Truth Live News was founded based on our knowledge about Freedom of Information (FOI), or the right to information, which also means the right to access information held by public bodies. Being an integral part of the fundamental right of freedom of expression, as recognized by Resolution 59 of the UN General Assembly adopted in 1946, as well as by Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (1948), we hold on strongly to these norms as our guiding principles in carrying out our professional duties.
We are a group of journalists who believe in investigative journalism, to dig out facts for publication as part of our fundamental human right of freedom of expression in some primary international instruments, including the International Covenant on Civil and Political Rights (1966) and the American Convention on Human Rights (1969).
As Africans who believe in the political emancipation of the people, ensuring that the people are governed with equity, justice, and the rule of law, we also act as a voice for the oppressed by taking governments at different levels to task on good governance, protection of lives and properties as well as quality service delivery to the citizens of Africa.
Truth is a product of TRUTH MEDIA COMMUNICATIONS LTD, formerly OLIKA REPORTERS LTD, which was established in 2016 by Deacon Darlington Okpebholo-Ray, a Human Rights and Socio-Political activist, Pastor, Journalist, and writer, and his friends in the struggle to free the oppressed people of Africa from the shackles of dictatorships and tyranny.
With correspondents across Nigeria, particularly in the northern part of the country, insecurity in Nigeria and agitating for the release of Leah Sharibu, the Christian little girl kidnapped by Boko Haram in 2018, have been our self-given task.
