NUJ Appeals To Governor Ayade For Befitting Secretariat In Calabar

The Cross River State Council of Nigerian Union of Journalists (NUJ) has said that the CRSC-NUJ has remained without a befitting Secretariat; and that it is nothing to write home about.

The state NUJ’s Council Chairman Mr. Nsa Gill revealed this to the state Governor Senator Ben Ayade at the final day of their 2022 Media week, lectures and summit held at Transcorp Hotels Calabar.

In a power point presentation, Mr. Gill appealed to the Governor for Befitting Secretariat In Calabar, saying that the present secretariat has nothing to write home about.

According to him, “we are looking at how we can remodel it at the first instance, and make it looks like a befitting Secretariat of the Journalists in the 21st century.”

The Governor Senator Ben Ayade while responding to the appeal said, the Journalists have the responsibility for proper education of the masses. Hence, the need for major discretion, to avoid causing harm to others.

He noted that “As we move in to 2023, journalists have the right to ensure that this nation remain peaceful.

” For today let me rest my case and assured you that your request for a magnificent building would be granted on one condition. if you use to do only that which is good before God, to do only that which is just. If I do wrong, do not blame me because I provide the edifice; tell the truth, as far as that truth would not bring down this country, then tell the truth.” Ayade reiterated.

Those who spoke at the event include Dr Mike Ozehome SAN, Barrister Mike Igini and former IGP Solomon Arase among others.
