Rivers State Governor Nyesom Ezenwo Wike has accorded Rivers state being one of the safest states in the country to the current Inspector General of Police being apolitical in managing security in the state.
Speaking during the innauguration of the Police Intelligence and Surveillance Centre built for the police by the Rivers State Government, the Governor said the security and surveilance center is part of his contribution to ensuring there is peace and security in Rivers State.
The Governor who also gave vehicles to the police promised to purchase 10 armoured vehicles for the police and double the digital surveilance capacity of the state.
Speaking at the event IGP Alkali Baba Usman said the centre is in line with international best practice as it can observe activities around the state in real time. The IGP appealed to other states to imitate Rivers State by replicating same in their states .
