The leading contender for the highest office in Cross River State, the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship candidate, Senator Sandy Onor has named a former governor of the state, Mr. Donald Duke as the leader of his campaign council, even as he has said that the state is rolling on the verge of a slippery person, adding that with one more push, it is gone.
Senator Onor made these known at the formal inauguration of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) campaign council in Calabar on Friday, where he argued that in politics, one must combine faith and work.
Lamenting the deplorable condition of the state currently, the Senator representing Cross River Central Senatorial district in the 9th Assembly asserted that “nothing is regular, everything is irregular, and almost all processes have been abused and debased in Cross River State”.
The candidate who has been adjudged the most popular politician in the state presently, disclosed that his administration will see to putting Cross River first before any other.
According to him, “there is nobody here who will genuinely work for this party who will be disrespected and who will not by the grace of God be rewarded.”
His words: “We will put Cross River first. Anyone who is not ready to put Cross River first will not be in our government, if you by mistake get into government, we will take you out because governance is a serious business. You will be rewarded by what you will do for your community and by what by the grace of God, we will be able to do for you.”
“it has gotten to the point where market women sit on top of garbage to sell fish, even as a new culture is being infested on the people through an army of food eaters, a people who will not like to sacrifice.” He said.
Meanwhile, apart from naming Mr. Donald Duke as the leader of the 1080- man People’s Democratic Party (PDP) state campaign council, the immediate past deputy governor, Barr Efiok Cobham was named to serve as the Director General of the campaign organization in the state.
