The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited (NNPC) has released 1.9bn billion liters of petrol to resolve the issue of fuel scarcity across the country.
The development comes shortly after the Department of State Services (DSS) issued a 48hours ultimatum to stakeholders in the oil and gas industry.
Truth Live News had earlier reported that DSS threatened to launch a manhunt for all stakeholders in the oil sector if the issue of fuel scarcity is not resolved within two days.
The warning was contained in a statement released by DSS, Peter Afunanya on Thursday
Meanwhile the NNPC Chief Executive Officer, Mele Kyari on Friday, announced the plan by the company to release 1.9bn litres of Petroleum Motor Spirit (PMS), in the next few hours.
Kyari, who was represented by the NNPC chief financial officer, UMAR Ajiya, assured Nigerians of the availablity of petrol in the next few hours.
He said that, “we have directed the operation team to engage in 24-hour loading of PMS in the next couple of days and make sure that some outlets operate 24 hour without compromising security in order to bring quick relief to Nigerians.”
