The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Cross River State, has warned that the ongoing collection of PVC is not by Proxy, insisting that come 2023 general elections there will be ‘No PVC, No Voting.’
The Head of Department, Voters’ Education and Publicity INEC Cross River State, Anthonia Nwobi, in a press release signed for the Resident Electoral Commissioner equally called on those who applied for transfer and replacement of Cards as well as the eligible and valid Registerants who are yet to collect their Parmanent Voters’ Card (PVC) to visit their Registration centres in the Ward and Area where the polling unit they chose to vote falls under, in order to pick up their voter Cards.
Nwobi who used the occasion to advise voters to ensure they use the opportunity to pick up their PVCs between the hour of 9:a.m to 3:p.m daily including Saturday and Sunday, as the last day for collection of PVCs for 2023 general elections is Sunday January 22, 2023. Stated that after January 15, 2023, the exercise will revert back to the 18 INEC LGAs offices until January 22, 2023.
Consequently, INEC devolved collection of PVCs to Registration Area and Ward level in Cross River State, so that those who are unable to collect their PVCs at the LGA offices of the state Commission can do so at the Registration Area/Ward.
The release reads in part, “consequent upon the ongoing collection of PVCs in all the INEC LGA offices in Cross River State, the general public is hereby informed that the commission has devolved PVC collection to all the 193 Registration Areas, also known as wards in Cross River State Nigeria. From today January 6, to Sunday 15th of January 2023.
It directed those that are unable to collect their PVCs at the LGA offices of the state Commission to do so at the Registration Area/ward.
