French professional footballer who plays as goalkeeper for Premier League side, Tottenham has announced his retirement from international football.
The 36-year-old Tottenham shot-stopper in a statement revealed it was time he handed over to younger on to take on the baton.
“There comes a time when you have to know how to hand over,” Lloris told L’Equipe.
“I don’t want to take over, I have always said and repeated that the French team does not belong to anyone.”
Lloris also recommended Mike Maignan to take over from him as he said that the team is ready to move on without him.
He noted that the French team does not belong to anyone as he said it’s honorable to leave the stage while the cheers are high.
“Prefer to go out when I’m at my best than wait for a slump,” he added.
