Bright Okpocha, aka Basket Mouth, comedian, is currently having it hot on Tweeter even as his planned ‘Basket Mouth Unprovoked’ global tour may suffer boycott by Nigerians abroad after he scheduled one of his shows on election day.

On February 25, election day, Basket Mouth plans to be in Hamburg, Germany to do shows, which say many is quite contradictory to a stance he took back in March 2015, when he castigated artistes who were outside the country during the election that year.

According to Okpocha’s tweet in 2015, artiste who did shows outside Nigeria at the time Goodluck Jonathan was voted out were as bad if not worse than the rejected president.

But Basket planned has planned a global tour that effectively put him outside the country through the election duration.

Tweeps on the microblogging app have descended heavily on Okpoch since his planned tour hit the media.

@VictorIsreal_ on his handle has this to say: “Presidential election is on the 25th of February 2023, that’s the exact date these ones chose to do their show!

“Later now they will come and be chasing clouts with “Vote wisely. Vote for the right candidate”. The hypocrisy stinks to high heavens. Good riddance.”

Another handle @drnkemdirim1 proposed a boycott of the tour.

“I wish that Nigerians there can boycott their show.”

Okpocha is the latest artiste coming under heavy criticism and planned sanction after Brymo, music artiste’s out of character ethnic slur, targeting a particular tribe over political differences and AY, comedian who made cryptic tweets that appeared to criticize petitions to have Brymo sanctioned by AFRIMA.
