Niger State government has declared a curfew in Lambata, in Gurara Local Government Area (LGA) of the state.
This is as a result of violent clash that led to the killing of the village head of Lambata, Mohammed Abdulsafur.
The Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Ahmed Ibrahim Matane, said this in a statement issued to newsmen by the Information Officer of the SSG’s Office, Lawal Tanko.
Matane said the state governor Governor Abubakar Bello directed that the curfew be imposed on Lambata Town from 6:00 pm to 6:00 am beginning from Sunday January 15th, 2023 till further notice.
He said the restriction was to assist the security agencies to stabilise the situation in the area, save lives, and enable the restoration of law and order.
He said hovernment condemned in strong terms the violence and act of lawlessness that have occurred in Lambata Town.
The state government has therefore called on the residents of the area to cooperate with the security agents in the urgent task of restoring peace in area.
It also urge security agencies to ensure the enforcement of the curfew.
