The People Democratic Party (PDP) Governorship Candidate Sen Sandy Ojang Onor of Cross River State has stated that he would not be an advocate of ethnic or tribal considerations ahead of competence in politics and governance.
Sen Onor made the comment during his campaign and town hall meeting with the traditional chiefs in Calabar South LGA saying that his team were at the place to inform chieftains of his message.
According to him, any of the Senatorial zones could have a go at the governorship since the seat has gone round
A fresh rotation could start from anywhere.

The professor of History, says he expects people to talk about competence and not bringing ethnicity into politics.
Onor is from Central Senatorial District of Cross River, South South region of Nigeria.
According to him, Liyel Imoke, Former Governor and predicessor of Ben Ayade, current governor, made mistake in fielding the incumbent.
The governorship candidate said, Politically, Ayade emerged from nowhere.
Very few people knew it wasn’t part of our political culture that he was brought to be the governor of the state.
“Wherever we have visited Chiefs, we have made a point that after God in the hierarchy of community should be Chiefs and one of the foremost characteristics of being a good chief is honesty, courage to be honest because if the chief who is the last custodian of the man in the village, is not able to tell the truth then the entire village will collapsed.”
“In a nutshell, we have had the worst period in state governance under Governor Ben Ayade of APC,” he said.
