Some prominent stakeholders and stalwarts of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, on Saturday, boycotted the Presidential campaign rally of the PDP presidential candidate, Atiku Abubakar and his running mate, Governor Ifeanyi Okowa as the campaign train hits Kebbi state capital, Birnin Kebbi.

learnt that the reason the major party stalwarts did shun the campaign rally can be traced to the leadership rancor in the state party’s and which have taken a new leaf of litigations against some candidates by aggrieved members of the party.

Daily independent had noted some of the prominent members who shunned the campaign rally to include Kabiru Tanimu who was former Minister for Special Duties, Rt. Lt. Gen. Ishaya Bameyi who was former Chief of Army Staff, Samaila Sa’idu, Rt. Major General Bello Sarkin Yaki, former gubernatorial aspirant, Barr. Ibrahim Manga, PDP Senatorial candidate, Kebbi North, Sani Bawa and PDP Senatorial candidate, Kebbi Central, Malam Haruna Saidu and some others.

It was gathered that the main opposition party, PDP, rented crowd from neighboring states of Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger and some other neighboring countries like Niger and Benin Republics to cover their shame of low turn out at the campaign rally.

It was also understood that youths from different areas of the state were lured with jerseys and some other juicy incentives to be in attendance of the campaign rally.

It was also gathered that in an effort to ensure mass attendance of people at the event, the main opposition party hired people from the neighbouring states of Sokoto, Zamfara and Niger as well as the neighbouring countries of Benin and Niger Republics to make up for the deficit and save face.
Youth in some areas of the state were also lured with jerseys to attend the party rally.
