Naira Notes: Paul Okoye Lambasts Senate For Keeping Num On Hiden Palliatives, Speaking Up Now

Renowned Nigerian singer Paul Okoye has lambasted the Nigerian Senate for claiming to be speaking up for the Nigerian masses over CBN’s refusal to extend the deadline for the old Naira notes.

The musician made the assertion in a post via his Instagram page on Sunday.

Okoye is one of the duo of the P-square music team.

He accused the legislators of keeping mum during the covid-19 pandemic when he claimed the federal government hid palliatives meant for the masses.

His words: “During pandemic people were hungry, where were the Senate when the palliatives were discovered? Same government were hiding food for their citizens. They were silent and dumb because it doesn’t affect them. Now with the naira redesign, they became spokesmen for the poor cos it affects them. Imagine there was no election…Aswear they won’t say pim! Naija wise up.

Recall that the Senate Monday January 23, 2023 asked the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN to extend the deadline for the exchange of old naira notes from the January 31 deadline to May 31, 2023.

The lawmakers also urged the CBN to open an exchange window where people that don’t have bank accounts to deposit their old notes.
