Akpatason’s Renewal Is A Project For Projects – By Elempe Dele

The member representing Akoko-Edo Federal Constituency, Hon. Peter Ohi Akpatason mni, the Deputy Majority Leader’s fourth term bid has been met with mixed reactions from foes, and friends alike. I have read some uncomplimentary remarks on why he should be going for a fourth term in office. Well, in a democracy, which ensures freedom of expression, questions need to be asked, and it is the duty of any image maker or public relations person to respond appropriately if need be.

We need to be objective on this matter. Akpatason is going for the fourth term in office, no doubt, and in a couple of days from now, precisely 11 days, he will be collectively elected even if there will be few pocket votes against this bid.

But let me say very categorically that the project of the fourth term bid is for projects, nothing more. There is virtually no community in Akoko-Edo he has not touched in terms of facilitated projects. I can testify to several in my community, Okpe. No individual ever in government has achieved this feat. And that is why they locally call him ‘Mr. Projects’ or ‘Akoko-Edo Governor.’

Presently, he is the Majority Leader in the House of Representatives. With this position, he has a lot of influence that he has used to bring impactful projects to Akoko-Edo. When he runs fourth term in the house, be rest assured he will be one of the most influential persons there and that will translate to more projects for Akoko-Edo. So why should we go for a rookie when we have Akpatason?

We have a moral justification for electing him for the fourth term come 25th February, this is signed and sealed.

Postscript:
