2023 Elections: Confusion As Gunmen Fire At PDP Chairman, Party Alleges Assassination Attempt

The Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Cross River State Mr. Vena Ikem has escaped assassins suspected to be the All Progressive Congress (APC) thugs.

The incident reported that it took place on Wednesday between the hours of 2:00pm and 4:00pm in Obudu LGA, Northern Senatorial District in the south south region of Nigeria had thugs numbering about 50 and was alledgedly led by one “Tompolo”,

According to the report, the chairman’s house and car were said to have been destroyed by the suspected thugs whom it explained that they were chanting “no PDP in Obudu, we shall kill and nothing would happen”

Items worth millions of naira including louvers, and fence were damaged, while that of the PDP house of Rep candidate for Obudu/Obanliku/Bekwarra federal constituency Mr Aniashie Akpanke include looted valuable items.

The COASU Chairman, FCE Obudu whose house is located along Bishiri Road, near Fountain Clinic, Obudu was attacked by the suspected APC thugs.

Truth Live News learnt that the assassins who invaded the houses were in a tinted hilux van and were shooting sporadically into the air, probably to scare passers-by away.

A village head, who does not want his name in print, while pointing accusing fingers at the APC said. “Ayade should get ready to kill all of us to become a Senator on Saturday. We have never witnessed this kind of violence in Obudu until Ayade came on board, adding that election is not by force.

“If you are popular go to the polls instead of unleashing thugs to kill your brothers just because you want to go to the Senate after 8 years of being a Governor.

The Chief condemned the killing of innocent soul in the land, saying “The God of Obudu would not forgive whosoever that is shedding blood in our land.

Recall that Truth live news had reported incident of destruction of property belonging to the PDP supporters in Akpabuyo LGA, in the Southern Senatorial District.

Hence, a call by the communities that police authorities should come to their aide as election day is at the corner.
