Nigerians say they are not happy that the Police did not arrest the alledged suspected individuals found with BVAS in Abuja.
This they said when responding to a statement by the Nigerian Police debunking in strong terms, the trending news in the media confirming the arrest of some individuals in Maitama, Abuja
The people alledged that ‘directly or indirectly, the Nigerian Police has engaged in electoral malpractices.
In the debunked statement, the Nigeria Police denied arresting some individuals with BVAS in Maitama, Abuja.
The statement which was found on the officials Police twitter handle was posted by the Police Public Relations Officer CPS Olumuyiwa Adejobi of the Force Headquarters Abuja.
CPS Adejobi said the police acted on information received from residents in the area that suspicious activities were ongoing.
Acted on the tip, the operative of the Nigerian Police Force Intelligence Bureau (FIB) visited the location, interviewed the occupants and conducted search on the house.
He confirmed that some Electoral materials and Bio-modal Voters Accreditation System (BVAS) were discovered in their possession but INEC claimed they are occupants of the house and staff of Emperor Technology.
Truth Live News further learnt that the staff of the outsourcing engineering services were immediately released to go about their lawful business.
While urging the public to discountenance the remour, the PRO said disinformation is capable of causing disaffection between the populace and the state actors at this critical moment in our democracy.
