A former commissioner in the Governor Godwin Obaseki led cabinet, Princess Otse Momoh Omorogbe, was defeated at the just concluded state assembly poll.
She was the Commissioner, Ministry of Budget and Economic Planning.
Princess Otse Momoh Omorogbe, the daughter of the Otaru of the Auchi kingdom, Alhaji H. A. Momoh, Ikelebe III, ran for the Etsako Constituency 1 seat on the platform of the PDP but ended up as one of the major casualties of the election held on Saturday, March 18
Despite her royal background, she lost by a wide margin to her All Progressives Congress (APC) rival, Mr Hussein Lecky.
According to the results for the Etsako Constituency 1, comprising Auchi and three other wards Jagbe, Anwain, and Agbede, as declared by the INEC Returning Officer, Princess Momoh scored 5, 894 votes to come a distant second to Hon Lecky who gathered 10, 507 votes, to emerge as the winner
Immediately after the announcement of the result, Hon Lecky and hundred of his supporters poured into the streets of Auchi to celebrate the victory.
They rode in a convoy of cars gesticulating the victory sign and waving the APC flag
Interestingly, the two main contenders for the Etsako Constituency 1 seat are prominent citizens of Auchi.
Hon Gani Audu, from Agbede and also of the APC, was the last person who won the assembly election to represent the constituency but he could not be sworn in as a result of the political stalemate and the intrigues which played out between Gov Obaseki and his erstwhile political godfather, Comrade Adams Oshiomole
