In a fatal collision on the Darazo-Kari Road in the Darazo Local Government Area of Bauchi State, four troops perished.
It was learned that 13 additional people suffered injuries of different seriousness in the single collision that took place on Wednesday afternoon at Kilometers 21 Lago Village.
According to reports, the troops were on their way to Abuja for a work assignment in a commercial Toyota bus with the registration number ASU 363-XA that was white in color.
According to Yusuf Abdullahi, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corp in Bauchi State, who verified the accident, it happened at 1.36 pm and involved 17 male soldiers, according to PUNCH.
Abdullahi continued, “Immediately we received word of the crash we rushed to the scene.
“They evacuated them to General Hospital, Darazo for treatment and confirmation.
“It was at the hospital that four of them were confirmed dead by a medical doctor. The corpses were deposited at the same hospital.
“The remaining 13 of them sustained various degrees of injuries including bruises, head injuries and fractures.
“The crash was caused by a tyre burst.
“The information gathered is that they are Army personnel going to Abuja on an official assignment and some were referred to the Specialist Hospital Bauchi for treatment.”
