The bill for establishing the Federal University of Agriculture, Ogoja, in the Northern Cross River has been passed by the Sanate.
The bill, sponsored by Sen Jarigbe Agom, was first passed on Wednesday 7th July 2022, and transmitted to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.
But few months after, the bill was returned to the Senate, with a request for a few amendments, and the bill was read on the floor of the Senate for the 3rd time. Truth Live News learnt.
Reports by the CrossRiverWatch online newspaper in Calabar said that the Senate has asked the clerk of the house to forward clean copies of the bill to President Muhammadu Buhari for assent.
It said Sen Agom who sponsored the bill has spoken saying “The institution, when established, would help accelerate the agricultural growth rate, enhance the income of farmers, transform educational infrastructures, and generate employment opportunities in the sector for constituents.
Sen Agom Jarigbe who hails from Ibil in Ogoja LGA of Cross River State, south south region of Nigeria is currently a member of the 9th National Assembly representing Cross River Northern Senatorial District.
Agom was also a member of the House of Representatives in the 8th and 9th National Assembly representing Ogoja/Yala Federal Constituency.
He was elected into the Green Chamber in 2015 and has served for his second term in office.
