Delta Operative officers, On Sunday, arrested a 24-year-Old passenger, Joseph Vincent while on a stop and search duty along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli south Local Government Area, Delta State.
In a statement by the State police public relation officer, DSP Bright Edafe who confirmed the report, said the operative intercepted a tricycle with Reg. No. GBB 022 UN and while conducting a search on it, Vincent flee into a nearby bush on an attempt to ascape but was chased down and apprehended by the police officers.
He further said that two fabricated Berretta pistol was recovered from Vincent.
“On 9/4/2023 at about 1000hrs, Operatives of Dragon 18 and 29, while on stop and search duty along Jeremi/Iwhrekan road in Ughelli South LGA, intercepted a tricycle with Reg. No. GBB 022 UN driven by one Isreal Sibito ‘m’ 58yrs conveying three females and one male passenger,” said the PPRO.
“While the search was being carried out, the male passenger who was later identified as Joseph Vincent ‘m’, age 24yrs, jumped down from the tricycle and ran into a nearby bush in an attempt to escape, he was given a hot chase by the operatives and arrested.”
According to Edafe, The investigation is still ongoing.
The PPRO went on to advise members of the public to exercise patience during stop-and-search procedures by police operatives as it is for the collective good and to ensure a safer Delta for all.
