The University of Uyo popularly known as Uniuyo situated in the capital of Akwa Ibom State, South-South Nigeria has appointed 58-year-old Mrs. Blossom Okorie as its new Registrar.
Until her recent appointment by the 9th Governing Council of the University of Uyo Mrs. Blossom Okorie was born in July 22, 1965.
In a release dated April 28, 2023 with reference number, UU/DIPR/2000/57/VOL.2/43, Mrs. Okorie had been the Acting Director of Information and Public Relations of the University.
The release by the Ag. Registrar and Secretary to the Senate Linus T. Okoko, said that she was appointed as the 8th substantive Registrar by the Chairman of the 9th Governing Council of the University Barr. Bernadette Nwachukwu on Friday April 28, 2023.
At the 99th meeting of the governing council held on Friday, where her position was announced, the new Registrar had since assumed duty on May 1, 2023.
Mrs. Okorie who was born in Kano State, is an indigene of Ikot Umiang Ede, Etinan Local Government Area, Akwa Ibom State, south south region of Nigeria.
Before she was appointed the 8th substantive Registrar, she had been a Mistress II in Community Comprehensive Secondary School, Four Towns, Uyo, Akwa Ibom State in 1994.
The new Registrar had been Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Pharmacy; 2005-2009. She had also been a Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Agriculture; 2009-2011.
As Senior Assistant Registrar and Faculty Officer in Faculty of Arts; 2011-2015, shortly afterwards she became the Principal Assistant Registrar and Head of Academic Staff Establishment, Directorate of Human Resources; 2015-2018.
Mrs. Okerie had been a Deputy Registrar and Secretary, College of Health Sciences. She had also been the Deputy Registrar and Head of Unit, Directorate of Information and Public Relations.
She is a member of professional bodies including Association of Nigerian Universities Professional Administrators (ANUPA),
Also, she is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management (NIM), Chartered and a Fellow of Institute of Cooperate Administration.
