The National Working Committee (NWC)of the All Progressive Congress APC, has endorsed for the 10th National Assembly the senator representing Northwest Senatorial District of Akwa Ibom state Sen. Godswill Akpabio,South south Nigeria for Senate president.
Others endorsed alongside with him include Sen. Barau Jubrin, from Kano state, Northwest Nigeria for Deputy Senate president, Hon. Abass Tajudeen, from Kaduna state, Northwest Nigeria for Speaker, House of Representatives and Hon. Ben Kalu, from Abia state, the Southeast Nigeria for Deputy Speaker, House of Representatives.
A statement by the Party’s National Publicity Secretary Barr. Felix Morka and seen by the Truth Live News had said that the decision of the party came after when the Party’s stakeholders met with the president-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Monday in Abuja.
The stakeholders in the statement released by the NWC said in order to assure the support of the aspirants to National Assembly Leadership positions and members of the party nationwide, it had called for further and better consultation with the leadership of the party.
The decision of the stakeholders further reads, “we urge our party members and all Nigerians to continue to work for peace and progress of our country during and beyond the current Leadership transition.”
Recall that the former Governor of Akwa Ibom State, Godswill Akpabio, has paid a courtesy visit to the Ooni of Ife, Adeyeye Ogunwusi accompanied by the senator representing Kano North, Barau Jibirin, and Governor of Ebonyi State, Dave Umahi.
Other Senators-elect who are still in the race are Abdulaziz Yari (Zamfara), Orji Uzor Kalu (Abia), Osita Izunaso (Imo) Sani Musa (Niger) and Patrick Ndubueze (Imo).
The National Assembly will be inaugurated in June.
