The new governor of Enugu State, Barr. Peter Mbah, yesterday after his inauguration performed his first function in office by signing three executive orders.

According to him, the orders were meant for the effective governance of the State.

The executive orders includes: Order 001 of 2023, which is an executive order for the Development of Citizens’ Charter; Executive Order 002 of 2003, for the Removal of Unauthorised Street Barriers Across the state Wlwithin 100 Days and Executive Order 003 of 2023, for the Promotion of Economic Growth through Transparency and Efficiency in Government.

The governor said that the Order 001 of 2023 mandates his administration to provide detailed information on the public financial management system, report revenue to the citizens in detail and ensure adequate capture of the State expenditure.

He explained that the order 002 of 2023 is the removal of illegal structures that block streets and other areas in the state and therefore urged owners of illegal structures to remove them before his 100 days in office so that Enugu people will see what his administration are doing to guarantee their safety and security.

He added that the Order 003 is to make Enugu the best destination for investment by creating environment for businesses to thrive and making policies that is business friendly.

Mbah, who had already taken the oath of office with Barr. Ifeanyi Ossai, his deputy, had earlier in his Inaugural speech promised that his administration would not conduct itself as usual, saying that “Enugu will rubbish the ‘Japa syndrome’, not by legislation, but by creatively addressing the challenges to the future of our youths.”
