Presidential candidate of the Labour Party, Peter Obi, his running mate, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed on Tuesday attended the Presidential Elections Petition Court hearing in Abuja.
Although his superior has been attending the hearing since it began, it is the the first time Datti would be present since the hearing of the suit filed by his party against the All Progressive Congress’ candidate began.
LP is expected to present only one witness today of the 50 witnesses it promised to present against the ‘victory’ of the president Bola Ahmed Tinubu at the February, 25, 2023 poll.
The party had earlier requested for seven weeks to get the witnesses.
On the other hand, Senior Advocate of Nigeria (SAN) and former Spokesperson for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign, Festus Keyamo has made his first appearance at the Presidential Election Petition Tribunal (PEPT) today (Tuesday, May 30, 2023).
Keyamo donned his legal robe for Tuesday’s hearing in defence of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Meanwhile, the court adjourned the petition of the Allied People’s Movement against the Independent National Electoral Commission INEC till June 2.
According to the court, this is to allow enough time for petitioner get the certified true copy of the Supreme Court judgement delivered on 26 May, 2023.
The Supreme Court had dismissed the case contending the double nomination of the vice president, Kashim Shettima.
