The court proceedings for Peter Obi took place on Friday, June 2nd, 2023, starting at approximately 9:25 am. The day began with the hearing of the matter concerning the Allied People’s Movement, which was adjourned until Friday, June 9th, 2023.
During the proceedings, the Labour Party presented a significant amount of evidence to support their case. Peter Obi, along with the Labour Party, represented the petitioners, and their counsel team was led by Dr. Livy Uzoukwu. Peter Afuba SAN took charge of presenting the documents.
Various documents from different states, including Niger, Rivers, Adamawa, Bayelsa, Oyo, Edo, Lagos, and Akwa Ibom, were presented to the court. The respondents, which included INEC, BAT/SHET, and APC, opposed the presentation of these documents, but the court admitted them as evidence.
After all the presentations, the Labour Party stated that they were ready for the court’s decision on the next hearing date. They also mentioned that they would bring additional documents, including those from subpoenaed witnesses from INEC.
The respondents’ counsels, along with the Labour Party’s counsel, appealed to adjourn the proceedings until Monday. All the counsels agreed, and the court adjourned until Monday, June 5th, 2023.
