Mr. Emmanuel Igwe, an employee of the Imo State Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, was purportedly slain by unidentified gunmen.
The event happened on Sunday along the Ivo Local Government Area axis of Ebonyi State, according to information provided to Daily Post.
It was learned that Mr. Emmanuel, an assistant electoral officer in the Afikpo North LGA, was ambushed by the criminal elements on his way back to Imo from a trip to Abia State.
The deceased’s widow was also taken by the armed men to an undisclosed location, according to Vanguard.
The regrettable occurrence was confirmed by SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya, the state police public relations officer.
“We have started looking for the attackers. We believe they will be caught. The man was shot through the glass of his vehicle, the PPRO reported on Monday.
