Vice President Kashim Shettima, on Monday, decorated the Acting Comptroller-General of Customs, Adewale Adeniyi, at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.
According to a statement from Olusola Abiola, Director of Information, Office of the Vice President, in Abuja, the ceremony was witnessed by the Chief of Staff to the President, Femi Gbajabiamila, at the Presidential Villa.
The decoration of Adeniyi came some days after he was named the Acting Customs Chief by President Bola Tinubu on Monday, June 19, 2023, alongside other new security chiefs.
The vice president speaking at the event, described the appointment of Mr Adeniyi by President Bola Tinubu as a morale booster for officers in the service.
“Congratulations on bringing professionalism back to the Nigerian Customs Service.
“Now, every Customs officer can aspire to occupy the pinnacle of his or her profession.
“I wish you well, on behalf of the President and Commander-In-Chief of the Armed Forces, Congratulations, once again,” Mr Shettima said.
Speaking to State House reporters shortly after the decoration, Mr. Adeniyi thanked the president for naming a serving officer as the agency’s chief and promised a more efficient and innovative NCS for the president and all Nigerians.
