A Police inspector, Identified as Moses Paul from police force base of Squadron 62 Kafanchan in the Jemaa Local Government Area in Kaduna State, has been arrested for attempting to kill his colleague.
DSP Muhammad Jalige, the spokesman of the Police Command, who made the disclosure, said that the incident occurred on June 16, 2023.
He stated that Inspector Moses Paul attempted to kill his duty partner, Identified as inspector Simnawa Paul, using a rope to strangle his neck.
“A distress situation on June 16, 2023, at about 19:30 hours occurred at the Police Mobile Force base of 62 Squadron Kafanchan, Kaduna, where a certain Inspector Moses Paul attempted to kill his duty partner, Inspector Simnawa Paul.”
The victim, according to the police spokesman, was rescued by two other police officers whose attention were drawn by his cries.
Jalige further stated that preliminary investigations suggested the primary motivation was an attempt to steal Inspector Simnawa Paul’s rifle, and that the distant cause of the incident will be determined at the conclusion of a thorough investigation.
“Paul will face both disciplinary and legal actions if proven guilty,” he said.
