C’River: Petroleum Taskforce Visits Navy, DSS, Plans To Clamp Down On Marketers Over Fuel Hoarding For Price Increase

The Joint Task Force on Petroleum Monitoring has visited the navy Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Victory (NNSV), Commodore VB Gbaranwi and his counterpart in the Department for State Services(DSS), John Sokoya, in Calabar.

Chairman, Joint Task Force On Petroleum Monitoring, Hon. Peter Okim, said the visit was to intimate them of his willingness lol for collaboration against fuel hoarding and price Increase by the petroleum marketers in the state.

While expressing dissatisfaction over activities of the marketers and the sharp price Increase, Okim said his next move will be to clamp down on marketers hoarding, diverting or selling products above the regulated price.

He appealed for assistance in the fight against products diversion and other malpractices in the petroleum sector and commended the security agencies for their efforts in ensuring the safety and security of lives and properties in the state.

“We have succeeded in clearing trucks parked on the highway that before now constituted great risk to motorists and residents of the state,” Okim said. “Our next move is to clamp down on marketers hoarding, diverting or selling products above the regulated price.”

The Secretary of the team, Boniface Okache said Governor Bassey Edet Otu has ordered them to close down petrol stations and other related businesses bent on sabotaging the efforts of government.

The Joint Task Force Media team reports that the navy Commander, Nigerian Navy Ship Victory (NNSV), Commodore VB Gbaranwi and his counterpart in the department for state Services(DSS), John Sokoya welcomed the team.

The media team said that the security men had observed that the fight would require a committed and decisive team to correct the anomalies.

According to the team, the duo have expressed their willingness and readiness to partner with the Joint Task Force on petroleum to arrest the situation.
