Zamfara State’s governor, Dauda Lawal, has signed an executive order restructuring and reducing the number of the State ministries from 28 to 16.

The Governor’s Office’s Director General of Media and Communication, Malam Nuhu Anka, made the announcement in a statement that was released in Gusau, the state’s capital.

The governor explained in the statement that the development was made with the intention of changing the state’s civil service to increase productivity, deliver services more effectively, and lower the cost of governance.

He continued by saying that the ministries will be staffed with individuals who have a track record of honesty and diligence in order to improve governance and advance the State.

“The restructure is to realize the rescue mission of Lawal’s administration in the State.

“The restructure will also affect other government departments, agencies as well as parastatals with a view to ensuring effectiveness, functionality and avoid redundancy.

“The restructuring policy will create more opportunities and provide more jobs for citizenry and solidify government operations.

“Our people should also continue to pray for the restoration of peace and tranquility to the State,” the governor said.
