President Bola Tinubu has written the Senate, seeking the screening and confirmation of appointment of the service chiefs.
The request was contained in a letter addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio and read at the resumption of the plenary session on Tuesday.
Akpabio who read the letter during Plenary, said that the request was in line with the Act establishing the Armed Forces adding that the service chiefs would be screened by the entire Senate in its chamber at a yet-to-be-announced date.
Recall that Tinubu had on June 19, appointed the new service chiefs after he retired those that served in the administration of former President Muhammadu Buhari.
The new service chiefs appointed by the president includes; Nuhu Ribadu (National Security Adviser), Maj. Gen. Christopher Musa (Chief of Defence Staff), Maj. Gen. Taoreed Lagbaja (Chief of Army Staff), Rear Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla (Chief of Naval Staff), and AVM Hassan Abubakar (Chief of Air Staff).
The president, in the letter, urged the Red Chamber to consider his request expeditiously.
