The second Management Committee retreat of Federal University Dutsin-Ma is being convened to enhance the capabilities of its members in order to improve the efficiency of service provision.
Inaugurating the commencement of the retreat in Dutse, Jigawa, Governor Umar Namadi emphasized the importance of ongoing collaborative thinking and exchange of ideas among scholars and intellectuals. He highlighted the goal of developing solutions to the unique challenges that our society faces.
He stated that this is both desirable and praiseworthy, as no society can thrive without contributions from skilled experts.
Namadi, through his Environment Commissioner, Dr. Nura Ibrahim, expressed appreciation to FUDMA’s administration for selecting Dutse, Jigawa’s state capital, as the suitable location for their meeting. He also encouraged others to follow this example.
The Vice-Chancellor of the University, Prof. Armayau Hamisu Bichi, mentioned that the retreat had been meticulously organized to offer an opportunity for participants, including staff members, to collaborate and generate innovative concepts aimed at progressing the university’s endeavours.
Prof Bichi emphasized the importance of diligently following through on the results of the retreat to enhance the quality of education, research, and teaching at the university. He encouraged participants to engage in thorough and profound discussions to generate practical and outstanding concepts. These concepts, he believes, will not only elevate FUDMA’s position but also contribute positively to the overall educational landscape of the nation.
Prof Bichi expressed that the retreat’s impact will significantly enhance the abilities of the attendees to effectively fulfil their individual responsibilities in advancing the institution. He reiterated that FUDMA’s dedication to providing exceptional services with a strong emphasis on integrity remains unwavering.
In his paper “The Roles and functions of Management in University System”, Prof. Nasir Dabo from Bayero University Kano describe the University System as a veritable instrument of development for the country that deserves more coordinated attention for meaningful development.
“Universities in any country champion the course of development through the production of the necessary highly skilled human resource that would partake in nation development this therefore calls for concerted and holistic approach by all stakeholders to guarantee sustainability of the system”
The second paper “Proper Channel of Communication as Essential Ingredient for Effective Administration and Management in the University Environment” by Prof. Suleiman Yusuf Mudi stressed the need for communication as a source of information for decision making saying that ‘’ communication promotes motivation by informing and clarifying the task to be done”.
