England’s talented footballer and Chelsea women’s forward, Lauren James, made headlines after deactivating the comments section on her Instagram and Twitter accounts.
The move came after she received a red card during the Round of 16 match against Nigeria in the Women’s World Cup.
The game concluded in a 0-0 draw after 120 minutes and was eventually decided by a penalty shoot-out, with England emerging victorious.
James received the red card in the 85th minute for an incident where she stylishly stepped on Nigeria’s defender, Michelle Alozie.
Initially shown a yellow card, the decision was later changed to a red card after a Video Assistant Referee review.
This decision led her to take a step back from social media by disabling the comments section on her previous posts.
