The Governor of Imo State Hope Uzodinmma, have received indigenes of Imo State Super Falcons stars in his office in Owerri.
Among those he hosted from the South East Nigeria were Chiamaka Nnadozie, Desire Oparanozie, Osinachi Ohale, and Tochukwu Oluehi.
Governor Uzodimma while addressing the Super Falcons Players over their exit from the FIFA Women’s World Cup 2023, and their impressive performance said they deserve to be appreciated by the state government which he said was the reason for the meeting.
Promising to support them in their career, Uzodimma said in order for them to grow he has the responsibility to encourage and give them whatever support.
His words:
“A prophet must be known in his home town as you are from Imo State, I have the responsibility to give you all the support and encourage you in your career and ensure that whatever we can do to support you to grow in that aspect of your career we will do that.”
“I am thinking that you deserve to be appreciated by the state government, that is the main reason for this meeting. In our own way whatever token we will use for appreciation for quality representation you have done to our state and the country,” he continued.
“The country is very diverse, in that diversity we can be shown that we can do better than other groups. So while wishing you the best of luck, do not relent in your efforts to take the trophy because we are looking forward to the day you will bring home the trophy.”
“We will like to encourage you by way of support, first I will like to give you one-one plot of land in Owerri and give you cash of ten thousand dollars each,” Governor Uzodimma declared.
He thereafter asked them to drop their particulars with the his Chief Press Secretary for the allocation of the land before they leave his office.
Getting so very impress over the magnanimity of the governor to deem it fit to reward them for the tournament, the super falcons players used the occasion to thank him for the appreciation.
While they described the governor as being the father of all deeming it fit to call them to his office, they also noted that other players from other states their governors didn’t give them such a gesture, “but because of the love you have for us you decided to do this, sir this too much,” they said.
