The assault happened at about 9p.m on 31st July 2023 when a man, Mr Fidelis Asekhamhe of Ifashe Quarters of Ivioghe village in Etsako East Local Government Area of the State visited the victim’s house in the village.

The image maker of the Nigeria Police Command in the state, SP. Chidi Nwabuzor, while reacting to the viral video of the assault on the aged woman, said the victim had been rescued and hospitalized.

The incident was earlier lodged in the Area Commander’s office in Etsako West Local government Area, according to him before the assault was put on a spotlight on 03/08/2023 via a petition by the victim’s nephew, Pastor Anthony Omozuapo.

SP. Nwabuzor, stated that one of the suspects in connection to the crime, is in police custody, while efforts are ongoing to arrest other suspects involved in this inhumane act, especially the Principal suspect, Fidelis Asekhamhe.

He said the CP urged citizens to stop taking laws into their hands, and sued for calm and directed the Area Commander where the incident happened to bring perpetrators to account.
